Muzala founded ZALAZ in 2019 with a vision to build a studio that married quiet, considered design with the warmth of a personal, hands-on practice. Having lived and trained in both Lusaka and Chelmsford, she brings a unique breadth of knowledge and cultural perspective to every project. She started her career in the Built Environment 15 years ago as a Quantity Surveyor and now serves as an Interior Designer focusing on the science of how interiors affect our every day lives.
Exposed to many different places and cultures from a young age, she learned to design and craft anything — from clothes and home decor to parties and furniture — always adding her own creative twist. That same curiosity drives the studio today.
A lover of travel, Muzala finds continuous inspiration in art, design, and architecture from around the world, alongside a deep appreciation of nature instilled by her parents and Zambia's local tourism. She leads every project personally, from the first concept sketch to the final piece of styling.

A quote that has shaped Steven's approach since he was a young man — and one that runs through every project he leads at ZALAZ. As project manager, Steven keeps each build on track, on budget, and aligned to the design intent.
Whether working on residential, commercial, or hospitality spaces, his goal is to create functional, aesthetically pleasing environments while delivering exceptional value at every stage of the project — from coordinating contractors and trades to ensuring the final handover feels effortless.
He is the steady hand between concept and completion, and the first point of contact for clients once a project moves into build.
